Tournaments & Camps

Tournaments

Tournaments are competitions based on rated games under our USCF affiliate ChessKidz Tournaments A6042633. Individual and team prizes are available to top performances. At least one Chief Tournament Director and one assistant will be on site during the events. There are several tournaments provided throughout the year so please keep an eye on our calendar for the schedules. The Quadz are an invitational event whereas the “In Search of Future Masters” is open to any player and each school reserves the right to send a five-person team to compete for the top school team trophies. Each year ChessKidz will be the host of the “Scholastic Championship” in which the top competitors will fight neighboring areas for the right to become the kid state champion! School teams can also earn trophies and prizes on the state and national levels.

Parents are encouraged to create booster clubs and speak with the PTA to help fund the “ISOFM” tournament teams. Each school reserves openings in the “ISOFM” for a five-person team and each spot must be filled with boys and girls for the school to be eligible for the school team trophies. This creates a productive competition that will show the level of the players from different areas of our community. Trophies, prizes and performance scores are available only to school teams who have every seat occupied. Teams are also encouraged to have reserve players in case a rotation is needed.

The “Scholastic Championship” is designed to single out the strongest players by grade level. Many sections are established, but the focus is on sections 1st – 12th grades. Each grade section has a champion emerging on top out of 10 recognized places. Top players will be invited to challenge neighboring areas in state championships and all are invited to make-up our team to battle nationally.

Tournaments require membership of the United States Chess Federation. Please visit uschess.org to join or renew a USCF membership. Include the USCF member number when registering for the session or pay for a new membership using the Non USCF appropriate registration payment.

Please refer to the tournament flyer for dates and times. Late sign-ups are only accepted if there is still space available in the tournament. The maximum number of participants is 200 unless otherwise stated in the flyer.
